The Role of a Kitchen Porter
The kitchen porter provides assistance to the chefs and restaurant team by keeping the kitchen clean.
The porter works proactively within a busy kitchen by washing dishes, cutlery, pots and pans and also carries out any necessary deep cleaning duties.
Tasks
- Ensure all food and equipment deliveries are inspected for quantity, quality and use-by date and are stored correctly
- Inform management of any stock or equipment issues
- Be responsible for the pot wash section, ensuring the highest levels of cleanliness and health and safety
- Mop the floor
- Take out waste
- Fully disinfect food preparation surfaces
- Carry out open and close down checks
