The maintenance manager has day to day responsibility for the maintenance team, which will usually be made up of permanent members of staff and contractors. The maintenance team will deal with the maintenance of accommodation units and other site buildings and infrastructure, water, gas and electrical supply to the site, and vehicle maintenance. It’s a pressurised role which requires a calm head, a flexibility to ensure that regular day to day maintenance tasks are carried out to schedule whilst also being able to adapt to emergency repairs that come to light.

Typical duties will include:
  • Planning and scheduling the maintenance work across the site – ensuring the right skills are available and that available time is maximised
  • Briefing the teams and signing off the work
  • Monitoring training needs and providing relevant support
  • Procurement and management of the tools required for the job
Skills, Experience and Personality Needed:
  • Previous maintenance experience in a hospitality environment and ideally within a holiday park
  • Good interpersonal skills and previous experience managing teams
  • Good level of education – especially in English, mathematics and ICT and with the ability and experience of using on-line tracking systems
  • Sound knowledge of Gas Safety and manual handling for gas
  • Sound knowledge of siting procedures
  • Solid knowledge of health and safety at work legislation – usually requiring Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrence (RIDDOR), Manual Handling Operations Regulations, Personal Protective Equipment at Work and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) qualifications
  • Experience of procuring tools, equipment and contractors
Benefits and Considerations:
  • This is most definitely a full-time role, and some weeks will require longer than a 40 hour shift
  • Depending on the size of the park, there may be a requirement for shift work (nights) in season
  • Live in accommodation is often included in the package as are other perks such as subsidised food and access to leisure facilities.
  • It’s common to receive bonuses throughout the year based on the level of service provided
  • The role is wide and varied – every day will bring different challenges and opportunities
  • This is a physically demanding job – great if you want something to keep you busy and fit, not so great if you have any mobility issues
