Some parks have a specialist siting team whose role is to cover all aspects of moving caravans on, around or off site and connecting / disconnecting them safely.

In other parks there will be a person specifically responsible for the movements of caravans and they will liaise with the operations control to ensure the right resource is available from the maintenance and grounds team for each job.

Typical duties will include: -
  • Coordination with owners, the park management team, the sales team in relation to required movement of caravans onto, around or off the park
  • Prepare caravans for safe transportation around / off the park
  • Connect new caravans to water and sewage
  • Fit steps and verandas
  • Ensure all health and safety procedures are followed at each step of the process
  • Ensure all appropriate vehicle checks are in place and that the vehicles are fit for purpose
  • Maintain and service siting equipment, machinery and vehicles
Skills, Experience and Personality Needed
  • Previous maintenance experience in a hospitality environment and ideally within a holiday park
  • Good interpersonal skills and previous experience managing teams
  • Sound knowledge of Gas Safety for non-engineers and Gas Handling
  • Sound knowledge of siting procedures – ideally with having completed a BTEC course in safe moving, siting and de-siting of single unit caravans
  • Solid knowledge of health and safety at work legislation – usually requiring Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrence (RIDDOR), Manual Handling Operations Regulations, Personal Protective Equipment at Work and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) qualifications
  • Experience of producing risk assessments
  • Full drivers licence, fork lift licence, experience driving a tractor is also helpful
  •
Benefits and Considerations
    • This is mostly a full-time role although during winter months hours may be reduced to reflect reduced movements
    • Live in accommodation may be included in the package as are other perks such as subsidised food and access to leisure facilities.
    • It’s common to receive bonuses throughout the year based on the level of service provided
    • This is a physically demanding job – great if you want something to keep you busy and fit, not so great if you have any mobility issues
