Viking Way
VIKING WAY

2026 is the 50th anniversary of the 149 mile walking trail. We have already spruced up the Viking Way pages with new photographs and a video, but 2026 will see a 50 Best Things To Look Out For On The Viking Way and various events. The first exhibition when the Lincoln Museum reopens is on the Vikings – so we’re all joined up.

International
INTERNATOINAL

VisitLincolnshire analytics show that America and Australia are our top international markets. 2030 will see the 400th anniversary of the founding of Boston, Massachusetts. In 1630 a fleet of 11 ships arrived in Trimountaine as it was originally known and renamed Boston after the Lincolnshire town that 166 or more of them had left. This is not Lincolnshire’s only connection with the United States: from explorers, those searching for religious freedom, the founders of Methodism to troops in World War II waiting for D Day. We want to present these as an irresistible whole. Time to celebrate our links!

Similarly, although we have information on VisitLincolnshire on the Lincolnshire explorers who discovered and mapped Australia, we want to bring it all together to make a more powerful and welcoming presentation of our connections.

weddings
WEDDINGS

Many businesses are involved in the wedding market. You may host the service and the reception, just the reception or add-ons such as guests staying for a nearby wedding, pre-event get-togethers, flowers, photography etc. In 2026 we will be holding workshops, together with the Registry Service to cover what’s involved in being a wedding venue and the realities of meeting expectations. Lincolnshire has many historic and quirky venues for weddings, we can do more to present ourselves as a destination for your wedding.

Sports Tourism
SPORT TOURISM

Whether it’s football, horse racing or eventing and bikes of all descriptions – these sports all bring supporters and spectators. Again we’re upping our presentation on VisitLincolnshire – it’s an important market.

Students and Parents
STUDENTS AND PARENTS

The student population in Lincolnshire has grown enormously. The visiting parent market for drop-offs and pick-ups and visits during term time is one that we can do more on.

AVIATION HERITAGE OVERVIEW

experience bomber county

A visit to Lincolnshire is the perfect way to experience aviation history with fascinating heritage sites, museums, and centres to explore.

Known as Bomber County during World War II due to the squadrons based in the county, Lincolnshire is still today at the centre of aviation, being home to several RAF bases, the International Bomber Command Centre and the famous RAF Red Arrows.
